Details of the method used to photograph the Venus Transition on 8th. June 2004. The Venus photographs below were obtained using a pair of 10 x 50 binoculars and a Panasonic Optio 550 camera. The binoculars and camera were attached to a 1/8 inch thick aluminium plate in order to keep them correctly aligned, the aluminium plate was then mounted on a sturdy tripod. The last two photographs were taken with the same set-up except a pair of 20 x 60 binoculars were used. The camera focusing was set to manual and then adjusted to infinity, the camera zoom was then set to maximum. Focusing was carried out by adjusting the binoculars. The camera delay timer was always used to minimise camera shake. BAADER AstroSolar Safety Film was placed over the binocular lenses to limit the amount of light being fed into the camera.
